In 1989 Handler was diagnosed with cancer. She passed away 10 years later. Handler was raised Reform Judaism by her father, who was Jewish. Handler resided in a beautiful neighborhood with a happy upbringing. Her move from the city of her birth to Los Angeles when she was 19, in order to pursue a career in acting. To help support herself, Handler began to work as an actress. Handler began performing stand-up comedy full-time after she was 21. She realized she has a knack for story telling. Handler began her professional career joining the only female Oxygen cast, which starred in a TV show named Girls Behaving Badly. This series was known for its hidden camera and the practical joke. This show aired between 2002 and 2005. Handler started appearing on various other programs, including Weekends at D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler was a part of The Tonight Show for a period of time as a correspondent. Handler made her breakthrough in 2006 when she was named host on E! The Chelsea Handler Program.
